Welcome
Started on the 26th of February 2010. Falkirk Cannons Rock-It-Ball Club has established itself very quickly as the top club within world Rock-It-Ball. The club was started by Lynn Pascall, Davie Straiton, Lesley Archibald and Gordon Archibald and in it's infancy was predominantly a V2 club. We are the first active Rock-It-Ball Club in Scotland and train V2 on a Friday in the Mariner Centre, Camelon, Falkirk. We have also train on a Wednesday evening for the 5 v 5 team version of the game. This year we have established ourselves as a major force in world Rock-It-Ball.
This year alone has seen Meghan Plummer become the top female V2 player in the world, sister Sara Plummer finished 9th in the World Youth V2. From the senior team, Scott MacMichael cleaned up in the V2 competitions and is the current Scottish and World V2 Champion. In the team events for the year the Cannons have won the Scottish Shield and more recently won the UK Clubs Championships. On top of all that we have no less than six of the senior team now IRIBF World Champions after Scotland retained the World Championship status in late August. Club Chairman Gordon Archibald was the National Team Coach who lead Scotland to this second historic victory.
We have a wealth of experience when it comes to teaching and coaching Rock-It-Ball and we welcome anyone from 8yrs upwards. We run our Cadet and Youth Sessions at Larbert High School, 5 - 6pm Tues during term time and our Youth section runs the hour after from 6 - 7pm.
For current up to the minute chat regarding everything Cannons, join our Facebook group. Here you can chat to team mates and book yourself onto our weekly V2 sessions. We also run fortnightly 5 v 5 session and fitness session which we welcome anyone over the age of 14yrs.
Come and join us! We know you'll have fun!
The Sport of Rock-It-Ball has Changed it's Name

Rock-It-Ball today has changed it's name. The sport will no longer be known as Rock-It-Ball it will be called VX. The stick we use will still be known as a Rock-It. The rules of the game remain the same so nothing will really change for us other than the name we give to the sport that we play.
The Falkirk Cannons Rock-It-Ball Club will remain as Falkirk Cannons Rock-It-Ball Club and we will not be changing our name for now to Falkirk Cannons VX Club as we have a very strong brand image in the local area. This may be something we could consider at some point in the future but for now all that changes is the sports name.
This also means that Scotland are the only country to ever have won the Rock-It-Ball World Cup. No one can take that away now! It will mean a change to our governing body. The Scottish Rock-It-Ball Association will be changing to VX Scotland or something similar as the International Rock-It-Ball Federation is now called Global VX.
I hope all those within the Falkirk Cannons family will find this transition from Rock-It-Ball to VX as painless as possible. And if you call it Rock-It-Ball instead of VX we will still know what you mean. :)
Club Take Possession of New Kit

After many months of fund raising the Cannons this week took delivery of a set of Juniors and a set of Pros.
Since the club began its affiliation with the Tryst Community Sports Club, we have been relying on the local schools lending us their kit, in order to get more children and young adults involved. We now hope to be able to take the Falkirk Cannons Brand out into the local schools in order to further promote the club and the sport.
We hope by purchasing this equipment, we will encourage the next batch of World Champions to continue to develop in the local area. We have rapidly developed a history of producing world beaters and we hope with this investment we will be able to continue to do so. Could YOU be the next V2, UK or World Champion???
Rock-It Derby

Our friends at Fierce Valley recently combined Roller Derby with Rock-It-Ball to create the new sport of Rock-It Derby. Frocky Horror commented, "It's a great warm up game and really encourages team work and communication which are all vital in the sport of Roller Derby."
I'm sure their Rock-It-Ball will be better than our skating!!!!!
UK Club Championships 2011

Well we did it! 20 months after the club was started on the squash court at Grangemouth Sports Complex, we returned to the centre and won the first IRIBF UK Club Championships. This has truly been a team effort from all involved in the Cannons family and tops off what has been a great year to be involved with the Cannons and Scottish Rock-It-Ball. For the results see the 5 v 5 page.

Cannons Play a Big Part in Scotlands Retention of the IRIBF World Cup

The Falkirk Cannons were well represented in the Scottish Rock-It-Ball Team which secured the IRIBF World Cup for the second time since the sport was invented. Every player from both the Cannons and our local rivals Coatbridge Enigma played some amazing stuff as everyone pulled together as a team to play out the plan devised by National Team Coach and club chairman Gordon Archibald.
With confident performances from our Head Coach, Scott McLellan, Ryan Buckle and Scott MacMichael not to mention the amazing stuff played by the first family of Rock-It-Ball the Plummers, Meghan, Sara and Steve, the National side a victory was in good hands.
Some awesome stuff and a victory we can all be proud of!
Scott MacMichael Does the Double
On Saturday the 20th of August Scott MacMichael competed as the only Falkirk Cannon representing club and country at the World V2 Championships in Leeds. After some testing games during the group stages, Scott faced last years world 4th seed, Tom Hildreth in the final. As in the Scottish, Scott pulled off the performance of a lifetime beating Tom and winning the World V2 Title.
The very next day, with the support a number of other Cannons, he repeated the feat his Dad, Paul, had pulled off in 2007, bringing victory again to Scotland in the World Cup team event, which saw Scotland convincingly beat Denmark and England, before dispatching the English Youth Team in an exhibition match.
Senior Team BBQ and V2 League Presentation 2011

What was supposed to be a evening of celebration and prize giving for our V2 league winners, Meghan Plummer - Women and Scott McLellan - Men, ended up becoming a weekend of fun.
Thanks to our club shirt sponsor Keith Hewitt of Scotia Bearings Ltd, for stepping in to present the trophies supplied and sponsored by RJM Sports Ltd, Falkirk.
A great weekend was had by all and we are now looking forward to another celebratory night out for those involved in the Scotland victory.
Scottish V2 Open Championships

Competing in Scotland's Inugural V2 Open Championships, Scott MacMichael was the only player representing the Falkirk Cannons. Well know for his aggressive distance game it was going to take all of his skill to get by an experienced field of Scottish V2 players. Scott showed great adaptabilty as he took on each opponent in turn, tuning his game to suit each.
In the end he played five and won five as he finished the Championships undefeated. This tops off a very good week for Scott, as he was also part of the Cannons squad which won the Scottish Shield Competition just four days earlier. To make it even more unbelieveable he had just completed a 10k run before turning up to play today.
Congratulations Scott, you have yet again made the Falkirk Cannons proud!

Cannons Win First Club Competition in Scottish Rock-It-Ball

Captained by Sara Plummer the Cannons have brought the club our first trophy as we beat Coatbridge Enigma in the Scottish Shield Competition on Wednesday 15th of June.
Head Coach Scott McLellan selected a well rounded and solid starting five with a number of experienced players having to take a back seat. His tac tics proved to be bang on and we can all be proud of the clubs success as we ran out 263 -186 Winners!!! We have all played a huge part in getting the Cannons to this stage and as Scott says he would be confident in putting the Cannons team up against anyone in World Rock-It-Ball.
Well done guys!!! A proud day.
See www.ribscotland.org for a breakdown of the scores.

Meghan and Sara Do the Cannons Proud!

On Sunday the 20th of February 2011, Meghan Plummer finished the day as the highest ranking woman in World V2 finishing 4th overall and Sara, who had some tough games in a difficult group, finished with a World V2 Ranking of 9th. Both girls showed some awesome play throughout the day and can both be proud of what they achieved in a competition which saw some quality V2 being played.
